Program Notes

Daughter of the Sea was commissioned by the Women Composers Festival of Hartford, where Andrea was the featured composer in 2014. The piece was composed for Oboe Duo Agosto. The Prelude and 6 movements are sonic tableaus inspired by Pablo Neruda’s Love Sonnets. Simple movements, lighting and spacing suggestions are indicated by the composer in the score. The work has also been choreographed by Katie Stevinson-Nollet.
